An Apple A Day Keeps The Doctor Away---Even In Apple Cider
Apples contain a great number of vitamins and minerals, such as potassium, magnesium, calcium, phosphorous, and iron. As vinegar is made from these apples, it also contains those ingredients. Coming in several forms, apple cider vinegar is best used in its liquid form. It can be added to salad dressings, mayonnaise, or sprinkled on chips and fries. Some enjoy it as a hot or cold drink when sweetened with honey.
Many conditions can be treated with apple cider vinegar. Breaking down fatty mucous and phlegm, apple cider vinegar improves the function of the liver, kidneys, and bladder. This amazing vinegar can also thin blood lowering blood pressure, promote digestion, flush out toxins, and prevent diarrhea or digestive upsets. Containing potassium, apple cider vinegar can ease cold and allergy symptoms, as well as promote healthy bones, teeth, and hair growth.
Other uses for apple cider vinegar include detoxifying the body of impurities that can cause boils, blisters, and acne. By the "cleaning" the blood, it can also help in the clotting process. Used as a hot compress, the cider vinegar reduces pain and inflammation in aching joints. It can also treat nosebleeds, gallstones, kidney stones, ear discharge, muscle cramps and depression.
A more recent use for apple cider vinegar is weight loss. Increasing the metabolism, the cider vinegar creates energy and suppresses hunger. Of course, you should always check with a doctor before starting any weight loss program, but cider vinegar is safe for children who need to lose weight. The supplement can be found in tablet form, but another alternative is eating apple before each meal, boosting the metabolism and giving a sense of fullness.
Several minerals associated with healthy bone mass are in apple cider vinegar. Since postmenopausal women are more susceptible to bone loss, the magnesium, silicone, and calcium found in cider vinegar can help them to maintain bone density.
Additionally, vitamins C, E, A B2, B6, P and beta-carotene in the vinegar help boost metabolism, reduce LDL cholesterol, reduce water retention, and regulate blood pressure. Other benefits include better concentration and memory due to better blood flow, which also regulates body temperature and energy.
Yeast infections result from an imbalance of Ph in the body due to diet changes or medications. Douching twice a day with two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a quart of lukewarm water will restore that sensitive acid balance.
Making apple cider vinegar at home with fall and winter varieties of apples is an option for those who would rather not take the capsule forms. Just make sure to use glass, plastic, wood, enamel, or stainless steel containers, as metal containers will corrode from the acid. Eating an apple a day is also a good start to a healthy eating plan.
